Parent Leaders
Maria Lopez - I'm involved with Inspire so that I can understand school regulations and changes and learn how to help my children achieve their goals. I also want to inform other parents so that they can help in the education and training of our children. I think it's important to help parents communicate with our children and their teachers, and to volunteer or simply take the time to bring our children to school and help them fulfill their tasks. I attend parenting classes to learn about the academic system. I believe it's important to participate in decisions affecting my children and our school.
Mi meta al asistir a Inspire es prepararme e informarme de las leyes y las reglas que pertenecen a las escuelas, y como puedo yo ayudar a mis hijos a alcanzar sus metas. También, quiero informar a otros padres para que ellos puedan apoyar a la educación de nuestros hijos. Creo que es importante que los padres tengan comunicación con sus hijos y con los maestros, y que se ofrecen como voluntarios en la escuela, o que simplemente tomen el tiempo para asegurar que sus hijos llegan a la escuela a tiempo y listos para aprender. Asisto a las clases para aprender acerca del sistema académico. Creo que es importante participar en las decisiones que afecten a mis hijos y a nuestra escuela.
Annie Ramirez - School Outreach Liaison, Date Elementary School
Virginia (Vicky) Bugarin - For the past two years my husband I have been proud Date parents. Our family’s main focus and goal is college. Volunteering at school, attending school committees, parent workshops and getting involved in the community is one of our main steps. With all our experiences and knowledge we want to help Date students have a brighter future.
Durante los últimos dos años, mi esposo y yo hemos estado orgullosos de ser parte del voluntariado de la escuela Date. En nuestra familia el principal objetivo es la Universidad. El voluntariado en la escuela, los comités que asisten a la escuela, los padres y talleres de involucrarce en la comunidad son unas de nuestras principales medidas. Con todas nuestras experiencias y conocimiento queremos ayudar a los estudiantes de la escuela Date para poder tener un futuro mas brillante.
Guadalupe Ortiz - As a mother my mission is to support my children in school, so they can be good people. My husband and I have good communication with them in order to know their concerns, their performance in school, how they feel, and what they like.
Mi mision como madre de familia es apoyar a mis hijos en la escuela para que ellos sean unas personas de bien. Mi esposo y yo mantenemos una buena comunicacion con ellos para saber sus inquietudes y su desempeno en la escuela, como se sienten, y lo que a ellos les gusta.
Patricia Zamora - As a parent my mission is to support this generation in which my children are in, to be able to go to a University and fulfill their dreams and goals. That is why we as parents are involved in their personal life, school, community, and their friends. As a mother I would say that the tools for a better world are our experiences, the teacher, and school support. I am very proud of my children because they have overcome the language barrier and are able to achieve their goals in school and with their friends. We as parents want our children to fulfill the dreams that we could not meet. I think it is never too late. Through these workshops and friends, I learn all this involvement in school. In advance thanks to all for your support be better parents and improving academic achievement in our children.
Mi mision como madre de familia es apoyar esta generacion en la cual mis hijos forman parte, para que logren llegar a la Universidad y asi cumplir sus suenos y metas. Por eso es nesesario que nosotros como padres nos involucremos en su vida personal, estudiantil, comunitaria y amigos. Como madre yo afirmo que las unicas herramientaso para un mundo mejor son nuestras experiencias, el apoyo de los maestros, e instituciones educativas. Yo me siento muy orgullosa de mis hijos pues a pesar de las barreras del idioma mis hijos han podido superar sus metas en la escuela y amigos. Nosotros como padres deseamos que nuestros hijos cumplan los sueños que nosotros no pudimos cumplir, creo que nunca es demasiado tarde. Yo por medio de los talleres y amigos he aprendido todo ese involucramiento en la escuela. De antemano muchisimas gracias a todos por apoyarnos para poder ser mejores padres y lograr el mejoramiento academico de nuestros hijos.
Maria Chavarria - As a mother my mission is to support my children to have goals in life. For him to achieve success in school to reach the university. My purpose as a mother is to keep the communication with my children and their teachers, to empower them to achieve their academic goals.
Mi mision como madre es apoyar a mi hijo a que tenga metas en la vida. Que logre tener exito en la escuela para poder llegar a la Universidad. Mi proposito como madre es, mantener la comunicacion con mis hijos y sus maestros para que puedan lograr sus metas academicas.
Elidia Cardenas - Before attending the Project INSPIRE workshops, for me my only responsibility was to take my kids to school every day. I thought the rest was the school’s responsibility. As a parent, I was hoping that my kids’ were well instructed by the teachers. I didn’t know how important and significant it was to be part of a committe or to attend the school meetings. When I became aware of how important my roll as a parent was in my kids education; I started attending the new workshops, developing a relationship with the school staff and supporting the school, have a good comunication with teachers, the principal and other parents with more experience on this matter. Now I know that I can be my childrens right arm to draw the path that will take them to university.
Antes de tomar el taller para padres del proyecto INSPIRE, para mí, llevar a mis hijos a la escuela todos los días, era mi única responsabilidad. Yo creía, que lo demás era trabajo de la escuela. Como madre de familia esperaba que mis hijos fueran bien instruidos por los maestros. No sabía la importancia que significaba participar en algún comité o asistir a las reuniones que la escuela realizaba. Al conocer la importancia de mi papel como madre en la educación de mis hijos, continuo asistiendo a nuevos talleres, involucrándome más y apoyando a mi escuela y formando un equipo de trabajo con los maestros, director y algunos padres que ya tienen experiencia en esto. Me he dado cuenta que puedo ser el otro brazo de mis hijos, para trazar el camino que ellos recorrerán para llegar la universidad.
Alicia Arroyo - My mission is to increase the communication with my kids because is the base for their academic development. It’s important to be involved in school tasks such as homework, special tasks, lecture, parents meetings and the new things they want to learn. When I was invited to take PIRC classes, to me, it was kind of complicated at the beginning because of the housekeeping activities at home I had to do. But I made the time to get to know what Project INSPIRE was all about. This project was very interesting because with our help the kids will obtain the academic achievement they wish for. Now I am part of the Project INSPIRE with a group of parents, teacher’s and principal support. We have a PIRC Center at our school site at this moment and the center is doing some workshops and different school committee meetings. Next year a new PIRC Level will be done. These workshops have helped me to know how important the family is in the goal to have our kids achieve academic success. This project also showed us how the school system functions, school rights and all the good opportunities they will have if we get involve from a young age. It is also our responsibility to support, love, and guide them through the best road.
Mi mision es fomentar la buena comunicacion con mis hijos ya que es la base para el buen desarrollo academico de ellos. Es importante involucrarse en asuntos escolares, como tareas, trabajos especiales, lecturas , juntas escolares y las cosas nuevas que ellos quieran aprender. Cuando me invitaron a tomar las clases de PIRC, se me hacia un poco complicado al principio por las actividades que como madre de familia tengo en casa. Pero hice un pequeno espacio y me di el tiempo de conocer de que se trataba el Proyecto Inspire y me intereso bastante saber que este proyecto contribuye a que nuestros hijos, con nuestra ayuda, logren el exito academico que tanto deceamos. Ahora formo parte del Proyecto Inspire junto con un grupo de madres y con el apoyo de nuestro director y maestros, se formo un centro de padres en nuestra escuela. En este momento se imparten clases para padres y platicas de los diferentes comites con que cuenta nuestra escuela y el proximo año se impartira un nuevo nivel de PIRC. Esto me ha ayudado a conocer la importancia que tiene el involucramiento de la familia en el exito academico de nuestros hijos, el mejor funcionamiento y manejo de la escuela, lo que la escuela les ofrece a nuestros hijos, los derechos que ellos tienen y las mejores oportunidades que ellos van a tener cuando nosotros los padres nos interesamos desde temprana edad. Ademas debemos de apoyarlos, amarlos y guiarlos por el mejor camino.
